Stephan Satijn

Stephan Satijn is the Regional Minister (Deputy Governor) for the Province of Limburg, Netherlands, where he oversees a broad portfolio including economic development, finance, public affairs, innovation, and government operations. A champion of cross-border collaboration and regional competitiveness, Stephan is leading initiatives that strengthen Limburg's position as one of Europe's premier innovation regions through investments in advanced manufacturing, life sciences, clean technologies, tourism, and the internationally renowned Brightlands innovation campuses. He is also a strong advocate for transformative projects such as the Einstein Telescope and other initiatives that drive sustainable economic growth and international collaboration.
Prior to joining the Provincial Executive in 2021, Stephan served as Alderman and First Deputy Mayor of the City of Venlo, where he was responsible for economic affairs and knowledge infrastructure. He also held executive leadership roles in the international private sector, including serving as Chairman of the Royal Dutch Mint and holding board and advisory positions with several prominent public and private organizations. With a career spanning government, international business, and regional development, Stephan brings a unique perspective on fostering innovation ecosystems, attracting investment, and building globally competitive, future-ready regions.
