Mike McCann

Mayor Mike McCann is a lifelong Defiance, Ohio, resident who was first elected Mayor in November 2015 and has continued serving the community through subsequent terms. A 1975 graduate of Defiance High School, he attended the University of Toledo before returning to his hometown. Prior to becoming Mayor, McCann served as President of Defiance City Council and has contributed to numerous local boards and commissions, including the County Metro Park Board, City Park Board, Planning Commission, and Charter Review Committee.

As Mayor, McCann is focused on strengthening the quality of life in Defiance through efficient city services, economic development, housing and neighborhood revitalization, community partnerships, and continued investment in the city’s future. Mike and his wife, Laurie, have five children and twelve grandchildren. He remains committed to serving the community he has always called home and ensuring Defiance continues to be “A Great Place to Live” for generations to come.
