Maurice Olivers is the Public Relations and Communications Director for Brightlands Circular Space in the Netherlands, where he leads the international positioning, stakeholder engagement, and strategic communications for one of Europe's most ambitious circular economy initiatives. With a background in law from Maastricht University and extensive experience spanning academia, innovation ecosystems, and public-private partnerships, Maurice specializes in bringing together industry, government, researchers, and entrepreneurs to accelerate sustainable innovation. His work focuses on building global collaborations that advance the transition to a circular economy while strengthening the Brightlands-Limburg region's reputation as a world-leading innovation ecosystem.
Since joining the Brightlands ecosystem in 2014, Maurice has played a central role in developing its innovation community, shaping the Brightlands brand, and expanding its international reach. Today, he is helping lead the development of Brightlands Circular Space—the world's first open-access demonstration and co-creation center dedicated to the entire circular plastics value chain—bringing together businesses, researchers, policymakers, and designers to accelerate sustainable materials innovation. An active contributor to the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) and an international speaker on innovation ecosystems, circular economy, and regional collaboration, Maurice is passionate about connecting people, ideas, and organizations to create lasting economic and societal impact.
