Duane Powell

Duane Powell is the Chief Information Officer for the City of Hilliard, Ohio, where he leads the city's technology strategy, cybersecurity, digital transformation, and smart city initiatives. With more than three decades of experience in telecommunications, enterprise infrastructure, and public sector technology, Duane has been instrumental in positioning Hilliard as an internationally recognized model for innovation. He oversees the technology foundation behind initiatives such as Hilliard City Lab, which brings together government, education, entrepreneurs, and industry to pilot emerging technologies, develop local talent, and accelerate economic growth.

Before joining the City of Hilliard, Duane held senior engineering and technology leadership roles in the telecommunications industry, building expertise in network architecture, cybersecurity, and large-scale enterprise systems. He also serves as Deputy Regional Commander of the Ohio Cyber Reserve, helping municipalities strengthen cyber resilience and respond to emerging threats. An active advocate for intelligent communities, workforce development, and public-private innovation, Duane is a frequent speaker on digital government, smart cities, and technology-driven economic development, sharing how communities can leverage innovation to improve services, create opportunities, and build a more connected future.
