Agnes Caldwell, PhD

Dr. Caldwell serves as executive vice president focusing on community partnerships and revenue generation for DC.  As a member of the Tri River Alliance she works closely with the City of Defiance and others working in the Upper Maumee Watershed collecting water and soil samples, as well as, demonstration projects in wetlands restoration. Her collaboration with the City on this research project and others allows for the integration of the Defiance College campus into the community.  Her doctoral research looked at how community based organizations work together to better their communities.  Her current research explores the importance of Irish immigrants to rural Northwest Ohio and includes several other community partners in Defiance and in Ireland.  She received her  Ph.D. in sociology from Wayne State University and her M.A. in sociology and B.A. in International Relations from the University of Toledo.
